Festival information
In Vinica Veritas is a humor and satire festival that is traditionally held every year in Vinica at the House of Culture. The festival is the one of a kind in Macedonia. The festival was first held on September 26, 1993, and eventually closed in the later 1990s. It was revived in 2009, when it became international. It is always held at the end of October. One of the first winners of the festival in 1993 was Boško Perinski. The festival lasts 5 days and several awards are awarded: Caricature, Aphorism, Epigram. Caricatures are exhibited at the festival and theatrical performances are held. The festival is organized by the House of Culture from Vinica, and is financially supported by the Ministry of Culture and the municipality of Vinica.
One of the festival's distinctive features is its focus on traditional forms of humor and satire, such as caricature, aphorism, and epigram. At the same time, it also provides space for contemporary expressions, including theatrical performances and exhibitions. The dedication of the Cultural Center in Vinica and the support from the Ministry of Culture and the local government are crucial for its maintenance and continuous development, making it one of the rare and longest-running festivals of its kind in the region.
